 Oracle Middleware & DB Administrator


We are looking for an Oracle Middleware & DB Administrator!

Sword Services S.A. is seeking to recruit a high caliber, energetic individual to join our Software Development team in Greece as an Oracle Middleware & DB Administrator. The successful candidate will work in a multinational environment on a multitude of tasks supporting our core business in large International Information Systems. What you will do…

  • Analyze all middleware components and recommend modifications that will enhance system reliability, availability, serviceability and scalability;
  • Participating in installation, configuration and patching activities
  • Installing and maintaining the Oracle database software;
  • Providing ongoing operational support for the Middleware and Database servers;
  • Assisting in manual application code deployments and automation;
  • Conducting performance tuning to maintain system stability;
  • Troubleshooting to capture incident data and analyze for root cause issues;
  • Serving as a team player by working with colleagues and clients to identify and address overall system problems as needed;
  • Influencing management to adopt new ideas, products, and/or approaches as appropriate;
  • Implement, administer, maintain and monitor our Linux virtual infrastructure;
  • Troubleshoot software and infrastructure issues as needed;
  • Communication complex technical solutions to a broad range of stakeholders within the business;
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities.

What is your experience…

  • Bachelor’s degree in a CS/IS/IT/System Administration related field or equivalent experience;
  • 3 years in an Oracle Administrator role with experience in installing and integrating Oracle SOA suite and its components;
  • Excellent knowledge of the administration of Oracle SOA and Oracle WebLogic 11/12c – including the ability to create, maintain and extend WLST-based scripts/Shell scripts for automation to address a wide range of administrative and technical challenges;
  • Proven experience supporting/maintaining middleware operating systems;
  • Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration;
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash and Python;
  • Ability and willingness to learn new tools and technologies;
  • Excellent command of the English language both written & spoken.

Experience in the following technologies will be considered an asset:

  • Exposure to monitoring and creating alerts in OEM;
  • Good understanding of RDBMS (preferably Oracle) and SQL;
  • Strong skills in troubleshooting and debugging application related network issues;
  • Experience with automating deployment using DevOps tools like Ansible, Jenkins etc;
  • Experience with a CI/CD Job management tool such as Jenkins;
  • Working knowledge of container technologies including Docker and Kubernetes is considered a plus;
  • Experience in Containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes – for Oracle) is considered a plus;
  • Experience in Cloud Services is considered a plus.
